Fair Folk & Spirits | Welsh Folklore Rites & Offerings
Welsh folklore is full of presences that are neither easily classified nor comfortably reduced to modern ideas of “faeries” or nature spirits. The Tylwyth Teg, the Gwyllion, wandering beings, household presences, and other figures often appear at thresholds: roads, hills, water, woodland edges, dusk, and places where ordinary boundaries feel less certain.
The rites gathered here approach those traditions with restraint. They are concerned with relationship, respect, discernment, offering, protection, and the awareness that not every encounter should be pursued or interpreted too quickly.
These offerings do not attempt to make mystery harmless or familiar. They invite careful attention to place, custom, and the possibility that some parts of the landscape are best approached with courtesy rather than certainty.
