What Remains Mine
A Welsh Rite of Boundaries & Disentanglement
Not every difficult bond needs to be cut completely.
Sometimes the person remains part of your family, workplace or wider life. Sometimes contact has already ended, yet their expectations, criticisms or needs still occupy far more space within you than you want them to. And sometimes you care about someone while recognising that the way responsibility moves between you has become unhealthy.
What Remains Mine is a personalised Welsh rite for disentangling your sense of self from a difficult relationship and restoring clearer boundaries around what is—and is not—yours to carry.
It does not attempt to expose another person's hidden motives, prove that they are manipulating you, or decide who is right.
Instead, the work returns repeatedly to something you can know more directly:
Where do I end, and where does this relationship begin?
This Rite May Suit You If
You find yourself taking responsibility for another person's moods, disappointment or reactions.
You have difficulty maintaining a boundary once somebody challenges it.
A relationship has ended, but you still rehearse old conversations, anticipate what the other person would think, or organise choices around a connection that is no longer active.
Someone remains part of your life, but you need a healthier distinction between caring for them and carrying them.
You have become accustomed to explaining yourself, defending reasonable choices, or questioning your judgement because of another person's response.
You are trying to recover a clearer sense of what you actually want after spending a long time adapting yourself around somebody else.
Or you simply know that a relationship has become too entangled and want to create deliberate space between what belongs to you and what belongs to them.
This rite does not require the relationship to end.
Sometimes the work is separation.
Sometimes it is a better boundary within continued relationship.
Blodeuwedd and the Question of Agency
Blodeuwedd enters the Fourth Branch of the Mabinogi already bound into other people's intentions.
Arianrhod has declared that Lleu Llaw Gyffes will never have a human wife, so Math and Gwydion create Blodeuwedd from flowers to become one.
She is given a form, a name and a purpose before the story gives us any sense of what she herself might have chosen.
What follows is not a simple tale of liberation.
Blodeuwedd later forms a relationship with Gronw Pebr, and together they conspire to kill Lleu. Their actions have consequences, and Gwydion ultimately transforms Blodeuwedd into an owl.
There are no uncomplicated roles here.
Blodeuwedd can be created for another person's purposes without everything she later does becoming justified. Lleu can be wronged without his own life having been entirely self-determined. Gwydion can attempt to repair one problem while creating others.
That complexity is useful.
Relationships can contain genuine care alongside control, obligation alongside affection, choice alongside expectation.
Sometimes the question is not: Who is the villain?
It is: What belongs to me now?
The Working
I prepare each What Remains Mine rite individually around the relationship or pattern you bring to me.
The work begins with the areas of entanglement that have become difficult to separate.
That may involve responsibility, guilt, expectation, emotional labour, repeated explanation, fear of another person's reaction, old promises, habits of accommodation or the lingering influence of a relationship that has already ended.
The rite then distinguishes between what remains genuinely yours and what can be returned symbolically to the other side of the boundary.
Blodeuwedd is honoured within the working as the Welsh figure around whom questions of imposed purpose, agency, relationship and consequence are gathered.
She is not invoked to declare another person guilty or to grant freedom from responsibility.
The work asks for something more precise.
What choices remain yours?
What responsibility genuinely belongs to you?
What are you carrying because you chose it?
And what have you continued carrying because the relationship taught you that you should?
The aim is not to become indifferent.
It is to become less entangled.

Caring Without Carrying Everything
Disentanglement does not require us to stop caring.
We can love somebody and still refuse responsibility for every feeling they have.
We can understand why someone behaves as they do without accepting behaviour that harms us.
We can regret our own choices without accepting blame for things we did not choose.
We can maintain contact while changing what that contact is allowed to ask of us.
And we can leave a relationship without needing to erase every good thing that once existed within it.
Boundaries are sometimes spoken about as though they create clean lines between people.
Human relationships rarely cooperate.
Some boundaries need renegotiating. Some require repetition. Some become clearer only after we notice how often we abandon them the moment another person becomes uncomfortable.
The purpose of this rite is not to make the line perfect.
It is to help you recognise when you have crossed so far into another person's ground that your own has become difficult to find.
What Remains After Separation
Even when a relationship ends, the habits it created may remain.
You may still explain your choices to someone who no longer asks.
Still anticipate criticism that is no longer being spoken.
Still measure yourself against expectations that once arrived from outside but now sound strangely like your own voice.
This does not mean you have failed to leave.
Relationships teach us ways of moving through the world.
Some deserve keeping.
Others need to be noticed before they can loosen.
The work therefore does not end by declaring the bond destroyed.
It ends by returning attention to your own ground.
What do you want?
What do you believe?
What are you responsible for?
What are you permitted to decline?
And what becomes possible when another person's response is no longer treated as the final measure of whether your choice was reasonable?
Before You Order
What Remains Mine is a personalised digital spiritual service for adults aged 18 and over. No physical item will be shipped.
Your ritual photographs and written materials are delivered digitally following completion.
A working email address is required. I will contact you after ordering if further information is needed before preparing your rite.

The rites I prepare are offered for spiritual practice, reflection and personal development. This rite does not determine another person's intentions, diagnose manipulation or abuse, or replace appropriate psychological, legal, medical or safeguarding support.
If someone is threatening, stalking, coercing or otherwise harming you, practical safety and professional support should take priority over ritual work.
Because each rite is prepared individually, completed ritual work cannot be refunded once preparation and performance have taken place.
Yr hyn sy’n eiddo i mi, fe’i cariaf. Yr hyn nad yw, gadawaf iddo fynd.
What is mine, I will carry. What is not, I will let go.
May care remain where care is freely given, responsibility rest where it belongs, and the ground beneath your own feet become clearer again.
Gyda therfynau clir a chalon dawel,
With clear boundaries and a quiet heart,
Elowen
