The Unbinding

What happens after you order

You will receive Your Rite Begins Here immediately after purchase, a short digital welcome guide explaining what happens next and how your personalised work is prepared. I will then contact you by email to ask about the relationship, obligation or attachment you want the rite to address, what has made you decide that something needs to change, and what you would like your boundary to look like afterwards.

You do not need to prove that another person has behaved badly, explain every detail of the relationship, or share anything you would rather keep private. You may already have ended contact, be reducing it, be dealing with an attachment that exists mostly through memory or rumination, or understand the bond in explicitly spiritual terms. Once I have the information needed to begin, I will prepare the rite within the stated processing period and deliver your photographs and written materials digitally.

Some bonds continue after we have decided to leave them

Ending a relationship and becoming free of its hold are not always the same thing. A conversation may be over while you are still rehearsing it in your mind. Contact may have stopped while guilt, obligation, anger or hope keeps pulling you back towards the same emotional ground. You may know very clearly that a boundary is necessary and still find yourself struggling to inhabit it.

For others, the experience is spiritual as well as emotional. A connection may feel energetically active, intrusive or difficult to release even after the practical relationship has changed. The Unbinding makes room for that understanding without requiring every persistent thought, dream or feeling to be treated as supernatural evidence.

This is a personalised rite for consciously changing your relationship to what still holds you. It is not designed to expose another person's motives or declare them harmful. Its concern is simpler and more useful: what continues to bind you, what belongs to you now, and what you are ready to stop carrying forward.

This rite may suit you if

This work may suit you if you have left, reduced or reconsidered a relationship but still feel caught in its emotional aftermath, or if you are trying to establish a boundary that guilt, habit, fear or obligation repeatedly weakens. It can also support situations involving controlling dynamics, repeated boundary-crossing, difficult former relationships, friendships that have become unhealthy, family ties that require firmer limits, or spiritual attachments you no longer wish to maintain.

You do not need to hate the other person in order to leave something behind. Love, grief, anger, loyalty and relief can exist together. Nor does release require you to decide that the relationship meant nothing. Sometimes the task is not to erase what happened, but to stop allowing it an automatic claim on your attention, decisions or future.

Bonds, obligations and boundaries in Welsh story

Welsh narrative repeatedly takes obligations seriously. Promises, exchanges, kinship, hospitality, names and agreements carry consequences in the Mabinogi, and relationships are rarely treated as weightless simply because circumstances change. What has been promised, imposed, refused or broken matters.

The Unbinding draws from that concern with relationship and consequence rather than claiming an old Welsh tradition of ritual cord-cutting. Its focus is the point at which a bond must be reconsidered: what genuinely belongs to you, what has been taken on through fear or expectation, and what you no longer consent to continue.

The rite does not require a deity or spirit to judge the relationship on your behalf. The boundary belongs to you.

The Working

Every Unbinding rite is shaped around the bond you bring to it and moves through three stages: What Holds → What Is Yours → What Is Released.

What Holds
We begin by identifying what still keeps the bond active. Sometimes that is contact itself, but often it is something less visible: guilt, responsibility for another person's feelings, fear of their reaction, anger that keeps reopening the same wound, the wish for an apology, hope that they will finally understand, or the habit of orienting your choices around what they might think.

If you understand the attachment spiritually, this stage can also make room for a felt energetic connection, recurring dreams, a sense of intrusion, or a bond you no longer wish to maintain. The rite does not need to decide whether the attachment is psychological, spiritual or some mixture of the two before working with the experience as it is.

What Is Yours
The second movement returns attention to what belongs within your own keeping: your time, attention, home, body, choices, privacy, spiritual practice, future and right to decide who has access to them.

This is not about winning an argument or proving that your interpretation is the only valid one. It is about establishing where your responsibility ends. Another person's disappointment does not automatically create an obligation. Their feelings may matter without becoming yours to manage, and compassion does not require unlimited access.

Where practical boundaries are already in place, the rite can strengthen your relationship with them. Where they are still taking shape, this stage can help clarify what you are and are not willing to continue.

What Is Released
The final movement concerns what you are willing to stop feeding or carrying. That may be an old promise, responsibility that was never truly yours, repeated mental arguments, the need to be understood, hope for a different ending, resentment, self-blame, or a spiritual connection you no longer consent to maintain.

Release does not require forgiveness, reconciliation or forgetting. It also does not guarantee that difficult feelings disappear immediately. The purpose is to mark a change of relationship: this may still be part of your history, but it does not receive the same claim on your present life.

Standard — The Unbinding

The Standard Rite is suited to one clearly defined relationship, attachment or boundary concern. It includes a personal consultation by email, a complete personalised rite structured through What Holds → What Is Yours → What Is Released, photographs of the completed working, a written account of the rite and its symbolism, and a personalised reflection for maintaining the boundary afterwards.

You will also receive a Companion Guide exploring attachment, consent, boundaries and release through a Welsh folkloric and reflective lens, alongside practical ways of tending the work without turning vigilance into another form of entanglement.

Deluxe — The Loosened Knot

The Deluxe Rite is intended for situations with more layers: long relationships, repeated cycles of leaving and returning, family or friendship ties complicated by loyalty and history, several connected boundaries, or an attachment that remains especially difficult to loosen despite a clear decision to change it.

It includes everything in Standard, together with an extended consultation, a separate preparatory working, expanded personalised ritual work and a more detailed written account. You will also receive The Loosened Knot, an expanded personalised Companion Guide exploring obligation, guilt, recurring patterns and the difference between compassion and continued access, together with a personal Welsh and English reflection, tailored practices for reinforcing the boundary, and one follow-up exchange after you have had time to live with the work.

Choose Deluxe when the difficulty is not simply How do I let this go? but Why does this keep pulling me back, even when I know what I want?

Leaving something behind does not mean denying that it mattered

Some relationships end because affection has gone. Others end while affection is still present. Sometimes a boundary is needed not because everything was false, but because something real became unsustainable.

You do not have to rewrite the whole history in order to change what happens next.

The work of unbinding is not to make the past unreal. It is to decide what authority it continues to hold.

Before You Order

The Unbinding is a personalised digital spiritual service for adults aged 18 and over. No physical item will be shipped. Please allow 1–3 weeks once I have the information needed to begin. Your photographs and written materials will be delivered digitally.

The rite can support reflection, spiritual practice, emotional release and the establishment of personal boundaries, but it does not determine another person's intentions, diagnose manipulation, remove practical risks, or guarantee that contact or difficult feelings will end.

Where a situation involves harassment, coercion, threats, stalking, financial control, domestic abuse or concerns for your safety, ritual work should sit alongside appropriate practical and professional support rather than replace it.

You are not creating an irrevocable spiritual bond through this rite. Any continued practice afterwards remains your choice.

Boed i ti gerdded yn rhydd.
May you walk freely.

May what is yours return to your keeping, may what no longer belongs with you loosen its hold, and may the boundary you choose become easier to inhabit with time.
