The Steady Course - A Personalised Welsh Rite for Orientation, Adaptation & the Next Workable Step
What happens after you order
You will receive Your Rite Begins Here immediately after purchase, a short digital welcome guide explaining what happens next and how your personalised work is prepared.
I will then contact you by email to ask what has changed, where you currently feel unsteady, and what kind of direction you are trying to find.
You may be facing several possible next steps, adjusting to circumstances you did not choose, or simply feeling that the way you once navigated your life no longer fits the ground beneath you. You do not need to know exactly where you want to end up. It is enough to tell me what has shifted and where you are struggling to find your bearings.
Once I have the information needed to begin, I will prepare the rite within the stated processing period. Your completed photographs and written materials will then be delivered digitally.
When the old map no longer fits
Some periods of uncertainty are not really about choosing between clear alternatives.
The difficulty is that the landscape itself has changed.
A plan that once made sense may no longer be possible. A role may have altered. Work, relationships, home, health, responsibility, or circumstance may have shifted enough that the question is no longer Which road should I take?
It becomes: What can I build from where I actually stand now?
The Steady Course is a personalised Welsh rite for regaining orientation during change.
It is not intended to reveal one predetermined path or promise that uncertainty will disappear. Its purpose is to help you recognise what remains available, adapt without losing yourself, and identify the next step that is genuinely workable rather than waiting for the whole road to become clear.
This work may suit you if:
- circumstances have changed and your previous plans no longer quite fit;
- you feel caught between several possible directions;
- you are trying to adapt without simply drifting wherever circumstances push you;
- you need a steadier relationship with uncertainty;
- you are rebuilding after disruption and want to know what can realistically come next;
- you have been waiting for perfect clarity before moving;
- you feel particularly drawn to Manawydan and the way his story meets change through skill, observation, patience and practical response.
This is not a rite for discovering a hidden destiny.
It is for finding enough orientation to work with the life that is actually in front of you.
Manawydan and the changed land
Manawydan fab Llŷr stands at the centre of the Third Branch of the Mabinogi.
He returns from the devastation of the Second Branch to Dyfed, where Pryderi offers him friendship, land and marriage to Rhiannon. For a time, Manawydan, Rhiannon, Pryderi and Cigfa live together there.
Then the land changes.
The people and domestic animals disappear. Manawydan and Pryderi eventually travel into England, where they learn successive crafts and become highly skilled at their work. Later, after Rhiannon and Pryderi themselves vanish, Manawydan returns to the land with Cigfa, sows wheat, watches carefully when the crop is repeatedly destroyed, and eventually negotiates the restoration of both the people he has lost and the altered land itself.
His story is not one of remaining untouched while the world changes around him.
It is a story of working with changed conditions.
Learning, making, watching, adjusting, and acting when enough has finally become clear.
That is the part of Manawydan’s road this rite approaches.
The Working
Every Steady Course rite is shaped around the change or uncertainty you bring to me.
The working moves through three stages.
What Has Changed
We begin with the ground as it is now, rather than trying to force circumstances back into an earlier shape.
What Still Works
The rite then turns towards what remains usable: existing skills, relationships, resources, knowledge, choices and forms of support that may still be available even if the wider situation has changed.
The Next Workable Step
Finally, attention moves towards what can actually be done from here. Not the perfect long-term answer. Not an entire future made certain. One step that belongs to the present conditions.
Manawydan is honoured and invited into the working through the Welsh literary tradition that gives the rite its shape.
The materials used will depend upon the individual rite. They are chosen because they are needed for the work, not to create a decorative altar.
Standard — The Steady Course
The Standard Rite is best suited when something has changed and you want focused work around regaining direction.
It includes:
- personal consultation by email;
- a complete personalised Manawydan-centred rite;
- ritual work shaped around change, available resources and the next workable step;
- photographs of the completed working;
- a written account of the rite and its symbolism;
- a personalised reflection on what remains usable within your present circumstances;
- a continuing practice for returning to orientation when uncertainty begins to widen again.
Deluxe — The Long Way Through
The Deluxe Rite is intended for circumstances where change has affected several parts of life at once, or where you are rebuilding rather than simply choosing one next step.
It includes everything in Standard, plus:
- an extended personal consultation;
- a separate preliminary working;
- expanded personalised ritual work;
- a more detailed written account;
- The Long Way Through, a personalised Companion Guide exploring adaptation, skill, resources, patience and practical rebuilding through Manawydan’s story;
- reflection on what has genuinely been lost, what remains available, and what may need to be learned rather than recovered;
- a tailored longer-term practice for navigating changing conditions without requiring constant certainty;
- one follow-up exchange after you have had time to work with the material.
Choose Deluxe when the question is not simply What should I do next? but How do I learn to live well in conditions that are no longer what I expected?
A direction you can actually use
There are times when guidance is less about receiving an answer and more about becoming able to work with what is already present.
Manawydan’s story does not give us a life protected from disruption. It gives us someone who repeatedly meets altered circumstances through attention, craft, patience and action.
Sometimes that is enough. Not certainty, not a perfect map, and a piece of ground you can work with, and a next step that holds.
Before You Order
The Steady Course is a personalised digital spiritual service for adults aged 18 and over. No physical item will be shipped.
Please allow 1–3 weeks once I have the information needed to begin. Your photographs and written materials will be delivered digitally.
This rite is offered for spiritual practice, reflection and personal development. It does not guarantee a particular decision, opportunity, outcome or future direction, and it does not replace appropriate professional, financial, legal, medical or psychological support where those are needed.
Cam wrth gam.
Step by step.
May what has changed become clear enough to work with, what remains prove useful, and the next piece of road reveal itself before you need to see the whole journey.
