Rhiannon's Choosing

Love is not only a matter of feeling. There are moments when it also asks for a choice.

Perhaps a relationship is becoming more serious and you want to meet that commitment deliberately. Perhaps you are already together but need to remember what you are choosing in one another. Or perhaps affection is present, yet uncertainty has begun to make it difficult to tell whether the relationship is truly reciprocal.

Rhiannon’s Choosing is a personalised Welsh rite for love grounded in mutuality, commitment and self-respect. It is not intended to compel another person’s affection or override their will. Instead, it centres the relationship that can exist when two people are able to choose one another freely, while neither is asked to disappear inside the bond.

Rhiannon’s Choosing may suit you if you:

Rhiannon, Pwyll and the Act of Choosing

Rhiannon enters the First Branch of the Mabinogi on horseback, appearing to Pwyll upon the mound at Gorsedd Arberth.

No matter how quickly his riders pursue her, they cannot catch her. Eventually Pwyll himself calls out, and Rhiannon stops.

She then makes her own intentions unmistakable.

Rhiannon tells Pwyll that she has come because she wishes to marry him rather than the man intended for her. Their courtship is therefore not simply a story of someone being won. Rhiannon chooses.

The tale that follows is complicated. Promises are made badly and repaired with difficulty. Rhiannon herself acts with intelligence and purpose when Pwyll’s impulsiveness threatens what they have agreed. Their relationship later survives grief, accusation and years of unjust punishment before she is restored to her place.

Rhiannon’s Choosing draws especially upon that first clear act: a woman arriving under her own power and naming whom she intends to choose.

Love, in this rite, is not possession.

It is a meeting between people who retain the right to stand fully within themselves.

The Working

I prepare each rite around the relationship and question you bring to it.

For an established couple, the work may centre upon renewing commitment, restoring deliberate attention, or strengthening the sense that the relationship is something actively chosen rather than merely continued through habit.

For a newer relationship, it may focus on entering love with openness while remaining attentive to reciprocity and your own boundaries.

Where uncertainty is present, the rite can instead be shaped around clear-hearted relationship: recognising what you want, what you are willing to offer, and what you need to receive in return.

The Deluxe Rite is intended for relationships carrying more history or complexity, or for those who want to explore the balance between commitment and retaining a strong sense of self more deeply.

Deluxe includes everything in Standard, plus:

• an extended personal consultation;

• a separate preliminary clearing rite focused on previous hurt, expectation or relational residue;

• an expanded personalised main working;

• a more detailed written account;

• an expanded Companion Guide;

• deeper reflection around reciprocity, boundaries, trust and the difference between attachment and deliberate commitment;

After ordering, I will contact you using the email address provided at checkout. You can tell me about the relationship or intention at the centre of the work and anything you feel I should understand before preparing the rite.

Once I have the information needed to begin, please allow 1–3 weeks for preparation and completion. Your photographs and written materials will then be delivered digitally.
