You will receive Your Rite Begins Here immediately after purchase, a short digital welcome guide explaining what happens next and how your personalised work is prepared.

I will then contact you personally by email to understand what has drawn you towards Annwn, whether that interest has come through Welsh story, devotional practice, dreams, landscape, Arawn, the Cŵn Annwn, Gwyn ap Nudd, or simply a longstanding sense of curiosity about the Otherworld.

You do not need to arrive with a fixed belief about what Annwn is or what you expect to encounter. The purpose of our correspondence is to understand the relationship you want to explore and shape the rite around that particular threshold.

Your completed rite, photographs and written materials will follow digitally within the stated preparation period.

Approaching the Otherworld without deciding what must be found there

Annwn appears throughout Welsh tradition in ways that resist a single tidy definition.

In the First Branch of the Mabinogi, Arawn rules a realm entered through an extraordinary exchange with Pwyll. Elsewhere in Welsh literature and later tradition, Annwn gathers associations with supernatural hunting, abundance, altered boundaries, strange encounters and beings whose relationship with the ordinary world is not always easy to define. 

It is sometimes translated simply as the Welsh Otherworld.

Simple, however, does not mean familiar.

At the Edge of Annwn is for someone who feels drawn towards that territory and wants to approach it deliberately, without requiring Annwn to become a generic spirit realm, a place of guaranteed revelation, or somewhere from which guidance must necessarily arrive.

The rite begins at the edge.

You may be drawn to this work if:

• Annwn itself interests you more than one particular deity or spirit;
• you want to explore Welsh Otherworld traditions without committing immediately to an initiation;
• you have encountered Annwn through Arawn, Gwyn ap Nudd, the Cŵn Annwn or other Welsh material and want to understand the wider territory around them;
• dreams, landscape, folklore or spiritual practice have left you curious about the boundary between the familiar and the Otherworldly;
• you want to make space for possible spiritual experience without demanding certainty from it;
• you are comfortable allowing some questions to remain open.

This is especially suited to someone who wants a beginning, but not necessarily an initiation into a particular relationship.

Annwn and the boundary

One of the qualities I find most compelling in the Welsh material is that Annwn does not behave simply as another country with a reliable map.

People encounter it through crossings, hunts, journeys, altered circumstances and relationships with beings who belong partly beyond ordinary human experience.

The surviving traditions do not give us a single system explaining exactly where Annwn is, who may enter it, or what every encounter with it means.

That uncertainty is part of the work.

The Cŵn Annwn material, for example, brings us repeatedly towards experiences that are heard or glimpsed without becoming completely knowable. The strongest way to approach such traditions is not to force mystery into certainty, but to become more attentive to the boundary itself.

Standard — At the Edge of Annwn

The Standard Rite is intended for someone beginning or renewing a thoughtful relationship with Annwn itself.

It includes:

• personal consultation by email;
• a complete personalised Welsh rite centred upon Annwn and the Otherworld threshold;
• respectful acknowledgement of the particular figures, stories or traditions relevant to your interest where appropriate;

Deluxe — Beyond the Familiar Shore

The Deluxe Rite is for someone who wants more space to explore how several strands of Annwn tradition have begun to intersect within their spiritual practice.

It may suit you if your interest already includes Arawn, Gwyn ap Nudd, the Cŵn Annwn, dreams, Otherworld folklore or repeated personal experiences that you would like to examine more carefully.

It includes everything in Standard, plus:

• an extended personal consultation;
• a separate preliminary cleansing and settling rite;
• expanded personalised ritual work;
• a more substantial written account;
• an expanded Companion Guide exploring the strands of Annwn most relevant to you;
• tailored reflection on spiritual experience, interpretation and uncertainty;
