What happens after you order

You will receive Your Rite Begins Here immediately after purchase, a short digital welcome guide explaining what happens next and how your personalised work is prepared.

I will then contact you by email to ask what you need to say or write, why this particular communication matters, and what you most want to preserve in the way you express it.

You might be preparing for a difficult conversation, an important letter, a presentation, a boundary that needs stating clearly, a piece of writing carrying unusual weight, or another moment when the words themselves deserve deliberate attention.

You do not need to send me a finished script. You can simply tell me what the situation is, what you are trying to communicate, and what feels difficult about finding the right form for it.

Once I have the information needed to begin, I will prepare the rite within the stated processing period. Your photographs and written materials will then be delivered digitally.

When the decision to speak has already been made

There are times when the question is not whether to say something.

You already know that it needs saying.

The difficulty is finding words precise enough to carry what you actually mean.

Too much explanation can weaken the point. Anger can make a necessary truth harder to hear. Fear can make us soften something until it no longer resembles what we intended to say. Cleverness can become performance. And sometimes the desire to be understood tempts us into saying more than belongs to us.

The Word of Gwydion is a personalised Welsh rite for those moments.

Its purpose is not persuasion.

It is deliberate expression: shaping speech or writing carefully enough that, once it has left your hands, you can still recognise it as your own.

This work may suit you if:

• you need to state a boundary clearly without turning it into a performance of anger;
• you are writing a letter, statement, speech, presentation, or other piece of communication carrying unusual weight;
• you know what you mean but struggle to find a form that feels accurate;

This rite begins after the decision to communicate has been made.

The work is not Should I respond?

It is What am I actually trying to say, and what form can carry it responsibly?

Gwydion, language and consequence

Gwydion fab Dôn appears throughout the Fourth Branch of the Mabinogi as a figure of extraordinary ingenuity.

Language is one of the things he uses well.

So are deception, manipulation, magic, making, strategy and adaptation.

His stories do not give us an uncomplicated patron of truthful or honourable speech. In one episode, his ingenuity helps produce a deceptive exchange that contributes to Pryderi’s death; elsewhere, that same resourcefulness is turned towards securing Lleu’s name and arms, finding him after his transformation, and helping restore him. 

That complexity is important here.

Clever words are not necessarily wise words.

Effective communication is not automatically ethical communication.

And the ability to persuade someone does not mean persuasion is what a situation requires.

The existing Gwydion work in this catalogue already approaches him through ingenuity joined to consequence rather than reducing him to a benevolent god of wisdom or eloquence. 

The Word of Gwydion brings that same principle specifically into language.

The question is not simply: Can I find the right words?

It is also: What will those words do once they are spoken?

The Working

Every Word of Gwydion rite is prepared around one act of speech or writing.

The working moves through three stages.

What Must Be Said
We begin with the substance.

What are you actually trying to communicate?
What is essential?
What belongs to the situation, and what has gathered around it through fear, frustration, anticipation, or repeated rehearsal?

The aim is not to reduce everything to a single sentence. It is to distinguish the heart of the message from the noise surrounding it.

How It Is Shaped
The rite then turns towards form.

Does the message need firmness or gentleness?
Detail or brevity?
A direct statement, a question, an explanation, a boundary, an acknowledgement, or simply a clear account of what you understand to be true?

This part of the work also considers what does not need saying.

Precision is partly the art of choosing what to leave outside the sentence.

What You Stand Behind
The final part concerns responsibility.

Once the words leave you, another person may misunderstand them, reject them, disagree with them, or respond in a way you cannot control.

The rite therefore closes not around the listener’s reaction, but around your own relationship with what you have expressed.

Can you stand beside the words because they are accurate enough, deliberate enough, and genuinely yours?

Gwydion is honoured and invited into the working with respect. I do not ask him to compel attention, agreement, or obedience.

Standard — The Word of Gwydion

The Standard Rite is suited to one reasonably clear communication: a conversation, letter, speech, statement, boundary, presentation, or piece of writing.

It includes a personal consultation by email, a complete personalised Gwydion-centred rite structured through What Must Be Said → How It Is Shaped → What You Stand Behind, photographs of the completed working, a written account of the rite and its symbolism, and a personalised reflection for returning to the heart of the message before you deliver it.

Deluxe — The Weight of the Word

The Deluxe Rite is intended for communication carrying greater complexity or consequence: several intertwined issues, a long history behind the conversation, public-facing speech, professional or creative work, or circumstances in which the temptation to over-explain, persuade, defend, or perform has become part of the difficulty.

It includes everything in Standard, together with an extended consultation, a separate preliminary working, expanded personalised ritual work, a more detailed written account, and The Weight of the Word, a personalised Companion Guide exploring precision, restraint, audience, responsibility, and what remains beyond your control once communication has been given.

It also includes a tailored practice for preparing before the conversation or delivery and one follow-up exchange after you have had time to work with the material.

Choose Deluxe when the difficulty is not simply What should I say? but How do I carry everything that surrounds these words without letting it overwhelm what I actually need them to do?

Words have consequences beyond intention

A careful sentence can still hurt.

An honest statement can still be unwelcome.

A beautifully written explanation can still fail to persuade.

The Word of Gwydion does not treat clarity as a guarantee of being understood.

Nor does it ask you to keep revising yourself until another person finally responds in the way you hoped.

There comes a point when the words have been shaped, the responsibility has been considered, and what happens next no longer belongs entirely to the speaker.

The rite is for reaching that point deliberately.
