What happens after you order

You will receive Your Rite Begins Here immediately after purchase, a short digital welcome guide explaining what happens next and how your personalised work is prepared.

I will then contact you by email to ask what kind of responsibility, authority, or trust you are carrying. This may concern work, leadership, family, community, a difficult role, a decision you are accountable for, or simply the way you want to conduct yourself when other people depend upon your judgement.

You do not need to arrive with a perfect description of the problem. You can tell me what has been placed in your hands, what feels difficult about carrying it, and what kind of person you want to be while you do so.

Once I have the information needed to begin, I will prepare the rite within the stated processing period. Your photographs and written materials will then be delivered digitally.

When something has been placed in your hands

Authority is not only about having the right to decide.

It is also about what you do with the trust, influence, responsibility, or access that comes with it.

The Measure of Pwyll is a personalised Welsh rite for those moments when you want to carry responsibility with greater honour, restraint, and steadiness.

It may be easy to think of leadership as confidence, decisiveness, or the ability to command. Sometimes those qualities matter. But there are other questions beneath them.

What has actually been entrusted to you?
What does your role allow you to do?
What does it ask you not to do?

And what kind of conduct will still feel like yours when the immediate pressure has passed?

This rite is for the space where authority becomes character.

This work may suit you if:

• you have recently taken on greater responsibility at work or elsewhere;
• other people depend upon your decisions, judgement, or discretion;
• you want to lead without becoming domineering;
• you are trying to balance confidence with restraint;
• you have been trusted with something sensitive, important, or consequential;
• you are reconsidering how you use authority after a mistake or difficult decision;
• you want your actions to reflect the standards you actually believe in;
• you feel particularly drawn to Pwyll and want to approach his story through questions of conduct, responsibility, and trust.

You do not need to hold a formal leadership title.

Responsibility appears in many places: managing people, caring for others, holding confidential information, representing a group, making decisions that affect more than yourself, or simply being the person others rely upon when circumstances become complicated.

Pwyll and the weight of conduct

Pwyll appears in the First Branch of the Mabinogi as prince of Dyfed.

His relationship with Arawn begins with a failure of conduct. While hunting, Pwyll drives Arawn’s hounds from a stag they have brought down and lets his own dogs feed upon it. When Arawn confronts him, Pwyll does not deny what happened. He asks how the offence can be repaired. 

What follows is stranger and more demanding.

Pwyll agrees to exchange appearances and places with Arawn for a year and a day. He enters Annwn carrying Arawn’s likeness and responsibilities, while Arawn takes Pwyll’s place in Dyfed. 

That episode gives this rite its centre.

Pwyll is not interesting here because he is an uncomplicated model of perfect leadership. He is interesting because responsibility arrives alongside consequence, restraint, trust, and the need to behave well while occupying a place that is not simply his to use however he wishes.

The rite does not ask you to imitate every action in Pwyll’s story.

It asks something more practical: How will you carry what has been placed in your hands?

The Working

Every Measure of Pwyll rite is prepared around the responsibility or role you bring to me.

The working moves through three stages.

What Has Been Entrusted
We begin with the role itself: what you are responsible for, who or what may be affected by your decisions, and what has genuinely been placed within your keeping.

What the Role Permits
The rite then turns towards boundaries. Authority is not unlimited simply because it exists. We consider where your responsibility begins, where it ends, and which actions would exceed the role you actually hold.

How I Will Carry It
The final part of the working centres upon conduct: the standards, restraint, judgement, and steadiness you want to bring to the position you occupy.

Pwyll is honoured as the central Welsh figure within the rite. Arawn belongs to the story that gives the working its shape and may be acknowledged where appropriate, but this remains a Pwyll-centred rite rather than a dual devotional working.

The materials used depend upon the individual work. They are chosen because they are needed, not to create a staged altar.

Standard — The Measure of Pwyll

The Standard Rite is best suited when you have a defined role, responsibility, or situation and want focused spiritual work around how you carry it.

It includes:

• personal consultation by email;
• a complete personalised Pwyll-centred rite;
• ritual work shaped around trust, limits, conduct, and responsibility;
• photographs of the completed working;
• a written account of the rite and its symbolism;
• a personalised reflection on the responsibility you are carrying;
• a practical-spiritual follow-on practice for returning to your chosen standards when pressure, urgency, or ego begins to distort them.

Deluxe — The Prince’s Measure

The Deluxe Rite is intended for more complicated positions of responsibility, particularly where authority, relationships, competing obligations, or past decisions have become difficult to separate.

It may suit you if your role involves managing other people, carrying significant trust, making repeated consequential decisions, or reconsidering how you have used authority over time.

It includes everything in Standard, plus:

• an extended personal consultation;
• a separate preliminary rite;
• expanded personalised ritual work;
• a more detailed written account;

• reflection on where confidence becomes overreach, where restraint becomes avoidance, and where responsibility may have become confused with control;

Choose Deluxe when the question is not simply How do I handle this responsibility well? but What kind of authority am I becoming through the way I carry it?

Authority without excess

The catalogue contains other rites concerned with composure, restraint, and careful action, but this one approaches those qualities through responsibility itself.

The point is not simply to become calmer.

It is not simply to pause before responding, it is not even simply to make the right decision. It is to consider what happens when something has been entrusted to you and your conduct becomes part of what determines whether that trust is well held.

There are times when leadership requires firmness, there are times when it requires listening, there are times when the most honourable choice is to act.

And there are times when the measure of authority is knowing what not to take simply because you could.
