What happens after you order

You will receive Your Rite Begins Here immediately after purchase, a short digital welcome guide explaining what happens next and how your personalised work is prepared. I will then contact you by email to ask what has been held in for too long, what has begun to feel stagnant or unsustainable, and where you sense movement needs to return.

This may involve anger, grief, creativity, a boundary, a decision, a relationship, a long-delayed change, or simply the feeling that you have spent too much time containing yourself. You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what should happen next. Once I have the information needed to begin, I will prepare the rite within the stated processing period and deliver your photographs and written materials digitally.

When restraint stops being steadiness

There are times when holding back is wise. Not every feeling needs immediate expression, and not every difficult moment requires action.

There are also times when restraint becomes its own form of confinement.

You may have kept the peace, postponed the decision, swallowed the anger, softened the boundary or waited for circumstances to change. What began as patience can eventually become stagnation, and the energy required to keep everything contained can become greater than the energy needed to move.

Tempest of Mallt-y-Nos is a personalised rite for that threshold.

Its purpose is not to provoke an outburst or encourage reckless action. It is to recognise what has been held too tightly, what can no longer remain unchanged, and where that stored force can move with greater purpose.

This rite may suit you if

This work may suit you if you have been making yourself smaller to preserve peace, repeatedly postponing something you know needs attention, or feeling emotionally or creatively pent up after a long period of restraint.

It may also suit you if anger or grief has become difficult to move through, if a boundary needs to become clearer, if you are ready to leave a stagnant situation, or if you simply miss the sense of vitality that existed before caution became your default response.

The rite is not designed to tell you that every strong impulse should be followed. Its work lies in distinguishing energy that needs movement from action taken merely because the pressure has become uncomfortable.

Mallt-y-Nos and the disruption of false quiet

Mallt-y-Nos belongs to Welsh folklore surrounding the Wild Hunt and the night landscape. Accounts vary, and I do not treat her as a goddess of storms, anger or liberation.

What interests me here is the quality of the figure herself: difficult to domesticate, unsettling, and associated with movement that does not politely preserve the stillness around it.

That gives her a fitting place in a rite about the point where quiet has become false.

The storm imagery used in Tempest of Mallt-y-Nos belongs to the working itself. Wind can unsettle what has been standing too long, but it also gives movement direction. The aim is not destruction for its own sake. It is to discover what becomes possible once the pressure of constant containment begins to loosen.

The Working

Every Tempest of Mallt-y-Nos rite is shaped around the particular form of stagnation you are experiencing and moves through three stages: What Has Been Held → What Breaks → What Moves Now.

What Has Been Held
The rite begins with what has been contained.

This may be an emotion you have repeatedly pushed aside, words you have avoided saying, a creative impulse that has gone unused, a boundary you have hesitated to hold, or a decision postponed because every available option carried some discomfort.

The purpose is not to glorify what has been suppressed. It is to recognise the effort involved in keeping it still and ask whether that restraint continues to serve you.

What Breaks
The second movement concerns what can no longer remain intact.

Sometimes this is a habit of silence. Sometimes it is a role, an expectation, a false agreement, an old fear, or the belief that peace must always be preserved regardless of personal cost.

“Breaking” here does not necessarily mean confrontation or rupture. It may simply mean that an old pattern loses its authority.

The rite creates a deliberate point of interruption: a place where continuation stops being automatic.

What Moves Now
The final movement gives the released energy somewhere to go.

That may mean speaking, leaving, beginning, refusing, creating, resting after finally making a decision, or setting a boundary that no longer needs to be endlessly renegotiated.

Movement is not valuable simply because it is dramatic. The aim is to let what has been held become useful again.

Standard — Tempest of Mallt-y-Nos

The Standard Rite is suited to one clearly defined area of stagnation, suppression or delayed movement. It includes a personal consultation by email, a complete personalised rite structured through What Has Been Held → What Breaks → What Moves Now, photographs of the completed working, a written account of the rite and its symbolism, and a personalised reflection for carrying the work forward.

You will also receive a Companion Guide exploring Mallt-y-Nos, restraint, emotional movement and the difference between purposeful release and simple reaction, together with reflective practices for identifying where energy can move more constructively.

Deluxe — The Breaking Wind

The Deluxe Rite is intended for more layered situations: long-standing self-silencing, repeated cycles of hesitation, several connected areas of stagnation, or circumstances where movement may have significant emotional or practical consequences.

It includes everything in Standard, together with an extended consultation, a separate preparatory working, expanded personalised ritual work and a more detailed written account. You will also receive The Breaking Wind, an expanded personalised Companion Guide exploring containment, anger, grief, boundaries and deliberate action, together with a personal Welsh and English reflection, tailored practices for directing released energy, and one follow-up exchange after you have had time to sit with the work.

Choose Deluxe when the question is not simply What needs to move? but How do I change the pattern that keeps returning me to stillness?

Not every quiet place is peaceful

Stillness can be restorative. It can also be the shape fear takes when it has learned to sound reasonable.

This rite does not ask you to become louder, harsher or less thoughtful. It asks whether your restraint still belongs to you.

Sometimes courage is the decision to wait. Sometimes it is the decision to speak. Sometimes it is simply recognising that remaining exactly where you are has become a decision of its own.
