Gwydion | Welsh Rites for Insight, Strategy & Action

Gwydion fab Dôn is one of the most ingenious and complicated figures of the Mabinogi: magician, strategist and maker whose stories move through language, transformation, deception, consequence and extraordinary acts of invention.

This collection gathers my rites and initiations centred upon Gwydion and the themes his stories invite us to explore. Some may turn towards creativity, language and the ability to find another way through difficult circumstances; others may consider transformation, adaptability, strategy, or the responsibilities that accompany cleverness and change.

I approach Gwydion without trying to smooth away the more difficult parts of his stories. His ingenuity can create possibilities, but it can also manipulate, and the Fourth Branch does not separate his remarkable abilities from the consequences of how he uses them.

These offerings invite a thoughtful relationship with that complexity: not simply asking what can be changed, but noticing what our choices set in motion.
